The Struggle is Real, Sort Of

Ever since the X-T10 had to be sent into Fuji to not be repaired under warranty (thanks for nothing Fuji), I’ve been using the X100s for most of my ride photos. The 100s is a great camera, but I’m very used to using a zoom to capture life out on the dirt roads, and I struggle with the fixed lens of the X100s. Despite the struggle, and missing out on more than a few shots over the past couple weeks, I managed to get a few photos that I don’t completely hate. Here’s a look at a few.

Despite the X100s coming through for me in recent weeks (and over the past year), I think my time with it is about to end as I prepare to do a bit of shuffling of the camera lineup; according to Fuji the broken X-T10 is finally on its way back to me for a brief stay before it is sent off to Square Trade to be replaced (thank you Square Trade!), and I’ve decided to move back to a DSLR for shooting soccer, cycling, and some ride stuff. That leaves the X100s kit to be sold to pay for part of said DSLR.

The X-T10 will eventually be sold too, but I’m not sure if I want to sell just the body and replace it with a weather sealed X series camera, or sell the whole kit and move to another mirrorless system. I love the Fuji X Series stuff, really, but I found the whole warranty, (non) repair, lack of communication, return process with Fuji very frustrating, and disconcerting, for that reason alone I’m a bit turned off on Fuji right now. Who knows, maybe I’ll change my mind.

***UPDATE*** I ended up with a new X-T10 body. There was a mixup on their end, I called it to their attention and was willing to send back the new body, but since they no longer have my “broken” X-T10 body, and their records show that I did everything as I should, the new body stays with me. Of course now there’s a Nikon D7100 kit on its way to me, I have a new X-T10 in my hands, and I don’t know what to do. What to keep, what to sell, what to return, or what upgrade to… Oh, first world problems. Maybe I’m not so turned off of Fuji and should thank them after all?

Thanks for looking at the photos.
